New School Year Begins- The eighth grade students and faculty kicked off the new school year with a friendship prayer partner service surrounding the Blessed John Paul II statue, an annual tradition for the upper classmates.
PreK Orientation Filled with Smiles - The new PreK Program held an Orientation for PreK families. Sr. Beverly entertained the kids with a special appearance by Donald Duck.
Kindergarten Celebrates Special Person/Grandparent's Day - Kinder students hosted a Grandparents/Special Person Day with fun activities, story telling and treats.
Phillies Phever "hits" PJP II - Students and staff showed their support wearing their favorite Phillies jerseys. Sr. Anne posed for a picture with Mrs. Doyle Phanatic.
Student Council Installation - The 2011-12 Student Council was installed following First Friday Mass in October. Rev. Mulranen was the Celebrant.
PreK Classrooms Blessed - Father Mulranen offered a special blessing of the new PreK classrooms, students and faculty.
Sr. Helen Loretta, IHM Honored - Sr. Helen Loretta, IHM and former Principal at CACES/PJP II received a special honor for her contributions to Catholic Education at the First Annual Chester County Catholic Schools Hall of Fame Gala to benefit The Foundation for Catholic Education in Chester County. Eighth grader Peyton G. was selected to share her experiences as a Catholic School student.
What's new in the Library- Stop by the Library to see some new "animal" friends. The new "aniimal' mural was painted by eighth grader Alyssa M. over the summer. Assisting Alyssa were Jenna L., Emma C. and Brooke H.
It's "Book Buddy" time- Sixth graders in Mrs. McLuckie's class enjoy reading to the PreK students on Friday afternoons.
Cards of Gratitude for the Troops - Fifth graders in Mrs. Hartshaw's class created holiday cards for the soldiers in the armed forces who will be away during the holiday season.
Cross Country Team Shines at Nationals- Under the direction of Coach Schmidt, the CYO Cross Country team posted an exceptional first year in both individual and team rankings. The season culminated at the National Youth Cross Country Championship in West Virginia. Nine PJP II runners competed with the Philadelphia CYO against 38 other teams in the country. The Saints brought home 11 plaques including 4 individual and 7 team awards. Runners competing were Jack E., Madeline T., Brooke H., Peyton G. , Blake E., Cole H., Alex H., Ben S., and Zach D. Congrats!
Third Graders Perform for Kinder Students - Music class was buzzing as Third Graders performed "The Surprise" from Frog and Toad All Year Long(by Arnold Lobel). From xylophone players to sound crew to dancing leaves, everyone played a part in this fun-filled production.
Cheerleaders Lift Spirits at Christmas Parade - The Junior Varsity and Varsity Cheeleading squads performed in the Coatesville Christmas Parade, taking third place in this annual event.
Drama Club Takes the Stage - After the Bell's Drama Club dazzled the audience with their annual Christmas shows. Students in K through 2nd grade performed "Hark, Harold the Angel Sings. A Lamb's Tale" while the the 3rd through 8th grade cast traveled around the world to find the meaning of Christmas in their production "Christmas Around the World."
Mrs. Doyle and Crew Spread Some Cheer! - Anticipation grew and eyes widened as car riders (and their pets) approached morning drop off on the last day before Christmas break. Mrs. Doyle and the car line “crew” prepared a Christmas production and greeted students with a little holiday cheer! Costumes included a fireplace with stockings, elves, angels and even Christmas presents. Blowing snow, Christmas music, and a full size blow-up manger capped off the production. Mrs. Doyle’s creative holiday costumes have brought much joy to PJP II students and their families over the years. Thank you Mrs. Doyle!
2012 Marks Fifth Year Anniversary - Faculty, staff and students gathered together to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of PJP II RCES. Since January 2007, the students of PJP II have been "growing in faith and learning for tomorrow."
D.A.R.E Graduates Prepared for Future - "Drugs, Attitude, Respect and Education". Ater several weeks of classroom instruction and hands-on training by Officer Sauers, the fifth grade class made a presentation to their parents reflecting on what they had been taught and how they will make better choices in the future.
Spelling Bee Team Wins District Trophy for Seventh Consecutive Year - Elementary and Middle School Participants competed in the annual Coatesville School District Spelling Bee Competition. The Midlle School team won first place based on overall score. Individual medal winners in the elementary and middle school bees included: Alexa D.(1st place third grade), Katie D. (2nd place fourth grade), Bridget O.(2nd place fifth grade), Andrew P. (2nd place sixth grade), Nicole P. (1st place seventh grade), Beatrice S. (3rd place seventh grade) and Conor W. (3rd place eighth grade).
Catholic Schools Week Celebrates "Faith, Academics, Service" - Events and activites organized by the Home & School Association included an Open House and Book Fair, Roller Skating Party, Family Dance, a special Jazz performance by the Tamer Trio, First Friday mass and special treats and classroom activities throughout the week. The inaugural Scholastic Book Fair organized by Mrs. Powell was a huge success!
Cheerleaders Receive High Honors at Local Competitions - The JV squad competed at BSHS in the Region 17 CYO Cheer Competition where they won first place in the JV Small division and also received the JV Spirit Award. In addition, the girls took first place in a competition at Garnet Valley HS. The Varsity Squad received the Outstanding Performance award at Garnet Valley and took second place in the Region 17 CYO competition at BSHS. Congratulations girls!
